How can I set up my Linksys E1500 router manually?

Linksys E1500 router can be set up both manually as well as through Cisco Connect Setup. But in this very article, we will discuss steps involved in setting up the E1500 router manually.

If in case you want to install your E1500 router using Cisco Connect, then setup steps will be the same as is in the case of E1000. SO, in this case, you can follow the steps discussed in the E1000 router setup article.

But here let’s begin with our manual setup steps of E1500 router.

Steps to initiate setup manually

Step 1:-
In this method, you will not require an installation CD. So if you had inserted installation CD into CD-ROM of the computer and had started the Cisco Connect setup, then exit from it first.

Step 2:-
Now put your router on power. For this connect power adapter of the router to the power outlet.

Step 3:-
After that, establish Ethernet wired connection between a computer and a Linksys router. For this insert one end of Ethernet cable to Ethernet port of the computer and at another end to Ethernet port(blue port) of the router.

Step 4:-
Then open up the web browser on the computer. Then enter 192.168.1.1 at the address bar of the browser.

It will pop up a window, asking you to enter the login credentials.

 

 

Step 5:-
By default credentials are:
Username:- Have to be left blank
Password:- admin

By entering the credentials, the browser-based utility will be opened up.

Step 6:-
Make desired changes in the browser-based utility. Once you are done, click on Save Settings.

Step 7:-
Then, in the end, close the web browser.

By this, your E1500 router gets set up manually.

Steps to manually establish an internet connection with Linksys E1500 router

Step 1:-
Log into Browser-based utility using a web browser in the same way as has done above. That means, open-up a web browser and enter 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of the browser.

Step 2:-
Go to the setup tab. Under it, click on Basic Setup Page.

Step 3:-
Here, under “Internet Connection type,” click on the type of connection provided by your ISP.

 

 

Step 4:-
Complete other optional settings.

Step 5:-
Click on Save settings.

That’s it. You had successfully established an internet connection manually.
