How to setup Linksys RE2000 N600 Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender

 

Various steps to be followed to setup Linksys RE2000, RE2000 V2 and RE4000W through Setup Wizard.

 

Linksys Wireless-N range extenders like RE2000, RE2000 v2 and RE4000W are dual band in nature. They can be set up by both manual configuration mode as well as through Setup Wizard. In this article we had explained various steps involved in installing Linksys Wireless-N range extender via setup wizard.

 

If you are planning to install Linksys Wireless-N range extender then there are some pre-requisites which you are required to have. These includes:
  1.   You should have to have setup CD of extender that you got along with Linksys range extender. In case, if you are unable to access CD due to any reason then you are requested to kindly go to Linksys’s official website and download setup wizard from Linksys Support site.

 

2.   Name of your existing home network(SSID)

In case your network router is dual band, then you have to take care of the fact that name of 2.4 GHz network and 5 GHz network should have to be different.

 

Make password of your network handy

 

Note: Network name i.e SSID and password are that of your network router. In case you are not able to get these details then you are requested to kindly contact your router’s manufacturer.

 

Various steps to install Linksys RE2000, RE2000 v2 and RE4000W extender are as given below:

 

Step 1:

Firstly you have to place Setup CD in your CD/DVD drive. Then AutoPlay option will appear on your screen, then select Set up your Linksys Range Extender option.
If due to any reason you are unable to access Setup CD then you can download Setup wizard from Linksys’s official website. Once it gets downloaded AutoPlay window will appear in screen, and then you can follow same step as mention above.
If in case after downloading setup wizard, AutoPlay window does not get shown on your screen, then all you have to do is go to Download folder or at directory which you had selected to save the downloaded Setup wizard. Then double click on icon and further steps will remain same as mentioned above.

 

Step 2:

A screen displaying End-User License Agreement will appears. Here you have to check the option stating I have read and accept the License Terms for using this software and then cl box, and then hit on Next option.

 

Step 3:

Now software will automatically search for various wireless connections available in the network. Name of your Wireless connection will also get displayed in this list. This is the time to power on your Linksys range extender after doing so click on Next.
Note: You are recommended to place your Wireless range extender and wireless router as close as possible so that your extender can be easily detected.

 

Step 4:

When software establish connection with your range extender, then it will start searching for Wireless networks. You have to wait a while up to the time name of your existing network appears in the list.

 

Step 5:

Now you have to select the Network name (SSID) pertaining to your home router. Then hit on Next.
Note: In case you had made your network hidden earlier, then do select My network is hidden option. In this case you have to manually enter various wireless network settings. Then you have to directly move to step 7

 

Step 6:

Now fill wireless network’s password. To proceed further do click on OK.

 

Step 7:

Now on screen various instructions will be displayed to help you out in placing your extender to any position wherever you want. Do follow these instructions thoroughly. Then hit on Next option.

 

Step 8:

Window will pop up stating your extender stands to be installed. Close this window and enjoy uninterrupted network connection throughout your home.
